Dance of any type is a form of art and self-expression. Salsa is one of the distinct forms of dance that has its very own history. The word ‘salsa’ means “mixture” of ingredients and therefore it is known as a fusion of both African and European Latin dance forms. It basically originated in 1920′s from US immigrants from Cuba, Puerto Rico and Colombia. It is considered to be one of the ball room dance forms which are mostly partner dance forms. However, it is also performed solo and with a set routine in a circle.
