Health and Fitness through Dancing – Using Your Resources

No excuses! Get this, we have a student who went on an extended road trip, and has been taking his lessons via SKYPE!  We connect with him on an iPad, point the camera, and dance.  It is the coolest thing since sliced bread! Wow, I can’t wait to share this with other students who think they cannot take lessons because of time or circumstance.

Now on to making choices. Tonight I have had my dinner, and a pizza and chicken wing delivery came in at the front desk.  In the past, perhaps I would have sneaked a minimum of two pieces and then saved another slice for ‘later’. I saw, I smelled, and said “I have the power of choice; I choose to say NO to this extra food”. I know I’ll see pizza again and love eating it, but I’m full and staying on track so….Hasta la Vista baby!

One of our resources is surrounding ourselves with people we want to become like.  Ever notice groups of people are often similar? Groups of friends at the movies, dinner, or shopping.  As a person who has been overweight, I would always notice other overweight people. Now, I watch the thin folks. I watch how they eat, act, and dress.  The ‘thin’ man in me is beginning to emerge and slowly pop his head out.  He is saying “I feel good again. I feel healthy now. I’m on my way to a life of healthy choices and longevity”. I like listening to and being good to that thin man who lives inside of me.

Other resources are our reading materials.  Read about health and nutrition. Go online for links to health and fitness. Build a library of positive thinking books, weight loss and maintenance, and motivational books. Fill your reading time with articles that will help and inspire you.  I love to read stories about others who have lost weight and have maintained it, that always does it for me. Read and fill your mind with success stories and you too will be successful.

In your kitchen, go through and clean, clear and organize. When you stand at the fridge, make sure it is full of healthy goodies. Keep veggies and fruits readily available and easy to see and reach. Hide the bad stuff, or just get rid of it. Make your kitchen, car, and office, food sabotage proof.

We have a voice to make our choice.  Dance your way to health and fitness and determine to be your best in all areas of life.  You’ll be surprised that you will be motivating others without knowing it, and helping them on their journeys in life.

Next week: How’s the Diet?

Very Sincerely,

David Woodbury
